Giving...

Today I did something very simple but it made someone who I don't know feel good and it also made me feel good.

I was driving thru Weinersnitzel getting a couple corndogs to bring back to the office because I have a call with the East coast at noon and I knew I would be hungry.  As I exited the drive thru there was a woman digging in the trash can.  My window was open so I just asked her if she was hungry.  She said she was so I gave her my bag of corndogs.

I circled around and went right back into the drive thru and got some more corndogs for my lunch.  When I drove back around to the front the woman was sitting on the ground eating.  We shouted at each other to have a great day.

The Nectar List

  • I raised two incredible daughters.  They are strong (and strong willed), beautiful, independent, wicked smart and kind hearted.

  • I drove across country twice.  First time from West to East (I was a passenger) second time from East to West.

  • I walked to the Louvre at night ;)

  • I swam in the reflecting pool on the mall in Washington D.C.

Today I found a hidden gem - The Fiesta Grill.  Mexican food you might say- but no, it is Persian food.  I had a wonderful Gyro, it came with two so will save one for lunch tomorrow.

El Rocoto

Peruvian restaurant five minutes from work which means ten minutes from the new abode.  I had grilled octopus. It was a bit chewy so not the best. But the restaurant has potential.  Delish bread and sauces.

Sunday's outing was Guatemalan food at La Esperanza Restaurant.  I had tortillas with black beans and a shrimp cocktail loaded with shrimp and avocado.

Trying to remember all the new places I have been frequenting.  Lunch today was Sanuki No Sato  , this is also where I went on my first day at Citizen.

California

Once when I was a kid we were on a family road trip to California, I can remember my father would only let my brother Jimmy and me sing, "California here I come, right back where I started from" because we were the only ones born in California.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Thanks for this one Dani.

Words from the wise...

It is not selfish
to refill your own cup
so that you can pour into others.
It's not just a luxury.
It is essential.
